My father really loves smoking. Even in the hospital last time, he found a cigarette and asked me the lighter. :( Of course I grabbed it and prevented of doing so. He only smiled. But after discharging from hospital just a few days, no one can prevent him. Hufth.....:(((

I’d been smoking for about twenty years before I made up my mind to give it up. Of course my first attempt failed. But it didn’t stop me,and I got on with trying. Eventually, I managed to get through it. By now I haven’t been smoking for almost seven years yet and I am happy to be free from thataddiction.Ineverrealizedhow much Ihad beenspendingoncigarettes before I stopped smoking. I was amazed whenIfigured outit was quite a lot of money. At the moment it would be much more-the governments of lots of countries including minehave been struggling against smoking for recent years. Because of it cigarette prices are through the roof now. So I'm sure If Iwassmoking I would be hard up. However in my view money isn'tthemain reason for people for giving up cigarettes. The basic issue of smoking is a harm to the healthof the smokersand people who are inasmokingarea,especially children. I guess eventually most of smokerslike me come to realizethat they've had enough of smoking and try to give it up. From my own experience I can say it's not as difficult as it seems. If you make a little effort I'm dead certain you will get through it. Anyway,to smoke or not to smoke is up to you. But,if you are still smoking,before you've lighted another cigarette please look around-probably there are people around you who don't want to be passive smokers but they don't haveanyother options, unlike you.

One of my colleagues died of throat cancer 2 years ago. He was a 45 years old bachelor and a very heavy smoker with 2 -3 packs of cigarettes everyday.
The deadly desease took his life away in just 6 months, indeed he was a very honest, humble and easy going person, it's really hard to get a friend like him nowadays.
May he be peaceful there and hopefully no more victims.
It's very hard to quit smoking especially someone who had smoked for 9 years. You would have been through physical addiction to nicotine, craving. You did conquer yourself, Congratulation.

Tres bon, mon ami, Ousmane Ouedraogo! I call that a victory. I hope other smokers will follow suit. Thanks for your advice to the others. You have given a good example for them. I hope they see the time you spent smoking and suddenly you quit. Money can be compensated or restored but the time, nine years of your life is not a short time, is it? Thanks again.
