Representation means to provide sympolic reading for a literary text. For example, in this novella; The Old Man and the Sea we encounter several presentations that help us to read it on different levels of meaning. Here, the sea represents life with all its good and bad elements and the struggle of the old man against the difficulties of life. On the other, hand, the sharks represent the irrational agressive power in society, just like the taxationn department in acapitalist system, or the elite in a communist system that confiscates the toil of man without any return. The big fish he caught represents his lost toil. Then why he did not cut the big fish into pieces and gave the sharks some and kept some for himself? Answer the question please?
