Photo problems

I wonder if anyone else if having problems displaying photos or uploading photos. I think all my software is up to date, but maybe in my part of Saudi Arabia something else is causing the problem. Many times I can only see the title of pictures but not the pictures on MyEC. This includes my page and others. I have been trying to view a featured photo about blacksmithing for two days now, but can't get it to load.

I have tried several times to help one new member join, but without a photo he is rejected. We started uploading many different photos which were small .jpg files and should have worked. Eventually the preview screen for the picture would open but there was nothing to see there and trying to use the photo failed. One day I left the uploader going for 7 hours with 3 different attempts.

It could be our location if nobody else is having the problem. I have thought of bandwidth issues but I can find plenty of photos on other sites. If you experienced anything like this please make a comment.

Thanks

  • Here is the response I received from the tech experts. Can you read through this and let me know if this helps at all?

We took a look at your network and all your photos seemed to upload over here. There are a few factors that could cause slow/no loading images.

    • If this member is behind a firewall, the images could be blocked from showing. Firewalls are pretty common in office buildings and/ or public buildings. If they are behind a company firewall, they may be able to ask their IT department for assistance loosening that firewall.

    • If the member has any kind of Javascript or pop up blocker enabled that can also prevent images from loading.

    • I'm having a similar issue. I tried many times to change my profile photo, but failed due to (uploading photo error). I'd appreciate it if solved.

    • If you tried the things Tara suggested above, I can also suggest bandwidth problems with your file size as a possibility. Photos are usually pretty large files.

First thing I would do is crop the photo down to a small size to remove any extra at the sides, top and bottom. If you can save it as a smaller file or take a new photo with a low resolution camera, to keep the file size small, then do that.

If you are in a location using a wireless or a slow wired connection, you may need to try the upload from a faster location if you can. Please tell us if you have success or not.
