I have found My EC a great place to be and I am proud to be a part of it. My EC has provided me with diverse opportunities and helped me a lot in my main goal i.e. learning and improving my English.
Along the way I have found many friends, they have been great support and inspiration and given me the opportunity to make cross cultural relations, which expanded to interaction outside of My EC.
Like me most of the members have found My EC the best place to be excelling in English, but sometimes I have encountered people who are just here to chat and make friends but not making a meaningful contribution and then there are some that are just here to bug others.
The important thing to emphasize here is that My EC is a learning place. Being social is part of human nature but we must not forget our main purpose that is learning English.
To get to know other people from various parts of the world is very exciting, but as addressed by some of the fellow members in their blogs that this is neither a dating site, nor a place to share your adult fantasies.
Regarding blogs and discussions, I have seen many blogs or discussions that border along or wrap controversial topics that relate to religion, ideologies, politics and the current conflicts, these topics put people with different views against each other. Freedom of speech is a universal right but it doesn’t mean that you create strife.
I pledge that all the members should avoid any topic that may not be greeted well by other fellow members.
I have tried to mention a few things that I thought needed to be discussed. There can many other things to improve upon, or there might be correction required to my point of view and I would appreciate a positive input.

Hope that everybody sees things as clearly as you have mentioned.
Discussions are not a general issue but people do take it or make it personal by challenging each others views, that's not wise I would say..
@Arif... That is a very important issue about chat, I have seen some use very filthy language, including some of the "STAR" members.
For those idiot foul mouthed people there is a saying "You should never argue with idiots because they will just drag you down to their level....then beat you with experience"

EC is not for hanging around.. its for learning and if one is not doing it then they are wasting each others time.
but one serious issue I see here is people abusing others.. Its rare but had that experience and mostly.. girls are the target.. so I suggest that the moderators must devise a strategy to minimize it.. but nothing taken from you. You guys at EC are already doing a great job no doubt..
Also the controversial topics or discussion in my opinion should be avoided.
