Writing Challenge: Uncountable Nouns

I wanted to join this month Writing Challenge, but I was confused to whom I should write a letter. Luckily, one of my dear friends, Surawan apparently also wanted to join this challenge. She asked me to write a letter for her.

Dear Ann,

I'm glad to hear news that the flood in Thailand is over now. I was shocked when you told me for the first time about the flood. I was sad to imagine how much damage your country was suffering during the flood. I can't imagine if I were you and needed to be evacuated, left my comfortable home to stay in somewhere else (especially without Internet connection and couldn't chat on MyEC).

But, it was a great experience to see how you reacted to the disaster. You stayed happy and showed a positive attitude. even you You even kept cheer cheering me up while it was supposed  to be me who did that. And your blog about the flood and what you felt about it definitely showed us your optimism.

Thank God, the flood is over and you can live your happy life again. Unfortunately, you're become busy with your work now, and so you're rarely online both on Skype and MyEC. But, it's OK. It means you're doing something useful and productive with your life.

I hope you will always have the positive attitude and being surrounded with happiness, safety and health in your life. I'm looking forward to chatting with you again like before.

PS: Do you remember about some information that flood caused hard disk price increasing? If you can save one or two hard disks, please send them to me :D.

Cheer,

Ario

I see. Thank for the corrections, Tara. I'm going to fix them soon. :)

  • Much better! A few notes:

You stayed happy and showed a positive attitude, even you kept cheer cheering me up while it was supposed  to be me who did that. [This should really be two sentences: "You even kept cheering me up while it was supposed to be me who did that."]

Unfortunately, you're you have become/you're busy with your work now, and so you're rarely online both on Skype and MyEC.

  • @ Expector Smith

Mr. Smith..glad to hear that your son is OK :)

    @Nandor

Thank for your comment, Nandor. I checked the word' life' before I wrote this blog and it's uncountable because it's abstract thing. You can read the explanation here: http://www.fortunecity.com/bally/durrus/153/gramch16.html

    @ Tara

I'm glad to read your comment, my teacher Tara. Especially to read your opinion that my writing has improved. Writing blogs, comments and even chatting  on MyEC definitely improve my ability. And also the corrections from you and other respected members here. Thanks a lot :)

I corrected the sentences, I hope both corrections are corrects.

  • Hi Ario,

I am so impressed with all of the great Writing Challenge responses this month! I think 2012 is going to be a great year for bloggers on MyEC. Your letter is fantastic! It seems like all of these uncountable nouns came so naturally to you. That is the sign of a great writer! Congratulations. I'm so impressed by how much your English has improved since you joined MyEC.

Let's work on these two sentences:

"You stayed happy and showed a positive attitude, even you kept cheer me up while it supposed to be me who did that."

Unfortunately, you become busy with your work and rarely online both on Skype and MyEC.
