Writing challenge: My Father

A Short Biography Of My Dad

How can I start I don’t know. I am a member of a big family. We are six brothers and four sisters. Now a day we can’t think about this type of big family. But it was reality. We lived in a beautiful village. Our big family was fully agro based. But it was so difficult to meet up all the necessaries from the earning of out agriculture firm. But there was no other way. At one stage we all the brothers and sisters were student. Some were university going, some were college going and some were school going. So can you imagine and realize our situation?

Almost everyday we need to buy some educational equipment to continue out study. But it was so difficult for my father to meet up every ends but he did it successfully. We all were meritorious. We all graduated from college and university. Now we all are in service. But can you think how much sacrifice it was from my father. He did his best for us. He did not think his own happiness. He did not buy good cloth for his own but he did it for us. He did not have good food for his own but he did it for us. He worked hard with the day labors but he did not engage us in doing any laborious work. His behavior was so polite. He was always smiling to others. He was very much respectable person in the locality as well as he was friendly to everybody. He was so delighted person with awesome sense of humor. No familiar passer-by can pass him without talking anything with him. He was very much helping minded also. If anybody demanded anything he tried his best to meet it up. He was a good story teller. He can tell story all through the night. His style of story telling was so interesting that nobody could leave the spot and slept even small children could not go to the bed leaving the spot.

When we grew up and managed to get the job we needed to leave the village home. We had to leave them (father and mother) alone. It was irony of fate that almost all the brothers and sisters had to go outside the village. But we visited them at least once in a month. When we went to my father he would be so happy for our presence. He demanded nothing from us. If we indented to give him some money he told, “No need, I shall be happy if you spent it for your own”.

As time was passing father was becoming older and older. When he was about 75 years of old he struck by heart attack and lost his normal movement. But hopefully he was recovering day by day. At last he was almost normal and leading a normal life. When I last visited my father I proposed him to visit my city residence which I built just before some days. He agreed and I was very much happy hearing this because my father and mother would stay with me at least for some days. We planned to visit national zoo and Botanical garden with them.

My village home is not far away from the capital city. I want to mention here that my village home is adjacent to the high way. My mother always reminded my father to be careful about the road crossing. But my father did not pay heed and crossed the road without much care. One day when he was coming back from a function arranged by the local school and at the time of crossing the road he struck by a car and fell down. He was injured seriously. Soon he was admitted in hospital and we rushed to the hospital but nobody of us made any contact with him. He was fully unconscious. He was treated for two days but ultimately he did not come back.

Ultimately he did not visit my residence and we did not visit National Zoo and Botanical garden with him accordingly our plan. And he will never visit my residence. It was destined. It is the reality of life. I have lost my father and everybody has to face the same. None can avoid it.

My father did a lot for us. I am happy and proud of being his son. He always tried his best make my life easier. O Allah my creator gives him a beautiful place in the heaven.
