Writing Challenge: Mothers

HOW I LEARNED READING:

Prior to my school age I used to ask my mother to read story books for me. My mother had just the basic knowledge of reciting Holy Quraan, she also could read small books in our native language. Once she asked me why I would not learn how to read if I was so interested in stories. Then she taught how to read Urdu, which I learned prior to going school. My mother bought the very first book of learning Urdu Alphabets, their combination in twos or more letters to make words. My mother, like I said could only able to recite the Qura’an, and the alphabets (letters) of Urdu are mostly similar to the Arabic Alphabets. So with the help of her Qura’an reciting knowledge she taught me the alphabets and their combination to make words, and then sentences. My mother, may Allah bless her soul and keep her in the highest place in heaven, in spite she herself not able to read and write properly, made me read stories by myself. Whatever I am today, in respect of reading and writing has been because of the foundation laid by her. I have tears of respect in my eyes while I am remember her in these words.

  • May Allah bless your mother Anne, and give her a long healthy life.
    Thanks for your emotional comments.

  • I loved ur blog ,it was great.

  • This is very touching, Mishaikh.  My deepest respect goes to your mother.  You have vividly described that wonderful but now an elusive moment with your mother.  My mother also used to tell me stories before I went to sleep when I was young.  Believe me, that moment when being remembered now that we have grown up sends a blissful state to our hearts.  A mixed feeling of sheer happiness and genuine sadness dominates within us.

My mother is still alive and her laughter still reigns our home.  No one can endure pain and sorrow with great fortitude like mothers.

I love this blog, Mishaikh.  It was the best expression of love that a son accorded to his mother. The best that I have ever read so far.

  • Good to know your feeling Usra. Thanks for stoping by and read my blog.

  • It creates a special bond and opens the door for discussion.
I have faith in this. I used to advise my circle to follow this.
I once have experienced when I used to teach privately. I found the
students especially girls to communicate their feelings and want to
discuss. I asked them to go to their parent, they replied they do not
    have time for them.
So I always advise chat with your kids, listen what they talk, not only
listen, but make them feel that they are being listend to, not matter how
awkward you find, sometimes, but pay attention that they are talking about
some important things, then make them understand in their own way and unknot
    their knots.
