Snake Charmer

Snake Charmer is a well-known figure in South Asian Countries so as it is a source of attraction to the people in my country.  He can be seen carrying on his shoulder a bag or a basket full of snakes.  They are kept in earthen pots, covered with pieces of cloth fastened to their (pots') neck.  The charmer plays on his gourd flute (been) to gather people around him.  Then he shows them his snakes, one by one.  They dance to his music and rush towards him with a hiss.  He is not afraid of their bites because their fangs have been broken by him.  People throw coins at him to help him keep his body and soul.

This is another piece from my school time memories

I have heard about those snake charmers too. I wish to see them through my eyes too! :)

  • How amazing the show is, I hope I could watch such a nice show one day in South Asian. I have watch some snakes were kept in bamboos while the Snake Charmer keep them in earthen pots.
