OPTIMISM

Optimism is termed as a mental condition in which we expect good results of certain happenings and situations. This is a way of thinking which makes us look at the bright side of situations and makes us expect the best possible results.  On the contrary pessimism is the way of thinking in which one always sees and expects the negative results out of a situation.   I am going to discuss here only the Optimism.

When we are optimistic, we are cheerful, inwardly happy and hopeful, and when we are in such condition, we can think, plan and work in the best of our capacity.   'Hope' or 'optimism' can be described in the psychological term as one of the greatest forces that operates in the mind, something that enters into the structure of a character.    Optimism increases the activity of desire.   It helps us in facing the trouble and misfortunes.  Pessimism creates dejection and inactiveness; in result it discourages us to face the hardships of life.   Hope or optimism also has a positive impact on nation as a whole.   This is one of the main reasons for the struggle and suffering of an individual or a nation over a long period-good expectation for the future.   If we do not entertain any hope of a bright future we might not make any serious, long and continuous efforts at all.

  • Thanks, Helen and Setareh for your comments.

  • Optimistic people can find every opportunity from disasters. Pessimistic people can find every disaster from opportunities.

  • Surely in difficult times optimism can help us to boost our morale in order to overcome those problems while on the other hand pessimism will make the tough times even worse.
optimist people give positive energy and everyone likes to be around them. Thanks for your great post as usual.
  • You know Anah, what is the strongest point of EEMAAN (faith) HOPE AND FEAR at the same time. Fear for "I will be punished if I commit a sin"

Hope for "I will be forgiven if I repent".

This is what we have been taught..........the strongest point of faith.

Both of these aspects come under the umbrella of OPTIMISM.

  • Sometimes, when a person is suffering from a crucial situation of his life, he is not willing to accept the disheart and hence goes into a gloomy and pensive mood. No hopes or bright light can be seen so far to him.

Then, what should that person do?

Mishiakh your blogs are spectacular, one can easily get motivated or inspired by your thoughts!

  • Thanks Saba and Expector, for your time to read and comment/appreciation.

  • Yes, one should never give up, no matter how hard one's life is. Keep it up!

  • As you said, pessimism creates dejection and in-activeness, so a pessimist can't be successful in life, It is better to be both realist and optimist, then if the result is not positive, it is not unexpected.

  • Thanks Mary for your illustrative comment.
