Writing, a cure for soul?

A friend of mine told me that writing could be a holistic cure for ached soul, a painkiller for a broken heart or at least a dew for a dry life. When she is disappointed with things that are not running as well as she wished or when she feels lonely or loses hope, she would grab a pen and diary to start writing down all the trash in her mind.

Why just sad moments? Well, that advice was given when I was drowned deep in sorrow. Of course, chirpy time should be great stuff to write so that it can boost our mood by rereading it when we are heading into the darkness, again.

Other than that, writing can stimulate our brain, still as she said. It would help our brain work on something productive, not over thinking of life issues we are encountering. So, is it true that writing is a cure?

  • Thank you Rosemary. But writing in English is "something" :D. But Let see if I could force myself to put my thoughts in written English. I just feel that I am still trapped in my insecurity... lack of vocabulary and poor writing skill.

  • Thank you Risty Aven, dara gino, bet and Mishaikh. It is indeed a good thing to start writing, and all of you are the experts at it :)

  • Yes, it is true.  Writing drains the stress out and calms the nerves down.

So, keep it up, it will take you to creative writing too.

  • First and foremost happy to see you writing here! I like to write when I am in good mood and during the worst time I like to chirp like a bird. so, it seems it  vary   person to person and situation to situation. But, it is also true that writing and drawing/painting both is helpful to concentrate our minds. Once when I was depressed I draw a picture then colour it and finally I got relief from the grief.

  • Saya setuju dengan kamu teman ku. Menulis yang baik! I know some writers who find happiness, solitude, and more of that, they think it's their window of breath to the world. Thanks, Sulung!

  • Your friend is right, Sulung. In my case it is effective.
