TIME

“What time is it?” We generally ask this question to assess which part of the day we are in, what has gone by or how much is left.  However,  ever we think about the question,  what “TIME is?” There may be a number of scientific or astronomical definitions of time.  But, to an individual’s relationship to time - time is life, drifting with every breath exhaled, towards its origin.  Fostering and nurturing, and the outcome is what we have achieved.

Now I am standing startled and bewildered, on the brim of my age (time), thinking, “What is my rank in the tug of war of life?”. Have I been distracted from the prescribed straight path? How can I be sure that I am successful? I have everything, a loving wife and kids, honor! But why! Why this dejection? Is it that I can not reverse the time to mend all the errors which I ignored just in assessing the time.  How much has passed, and how much is left to remain on this track in this race? But I can not go back in time; in what ever way I have to cross this brim, willingly or unwillingly! Ah! Time I thought you were with me! But you deceived me!!

  • Thank you very much Rose for your comprehension of the topic.

I am glad having appreciation from you.

  • The last sentence of yours makes me pensive. It's what I feel, too.
You know? Life, health and time are the most valuable, and most precious gifts given to us humans. The gift of time is a deception because we can't hold this gift.
It's like water pours through our fingers.
One day, we have to realize, the time has expired.
Since the day of birth, the time is a countdown. No one knows the numbers of seconds, minutes, hours, days, months or years. The gift of time is an unknown factor.
We never can calculate the numbers with a mathematical formula.
And time is a thief, too. If we lose the gift of time, we also lose the gifts health and life.
The comfort is, no one can buy time, at the end of life doesn't count wealth or poverty. That what counts is how we had lived.

  • You are right Onee, that's we who thinks so.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • Time is not deceiving you, but it's just passing over you.

    Nice thought, Mishaikh! :)

  • Thanks Anne for your awaited comments.

    I really appreciate that.

  • Actually it's not a poem.  It's a saying by Henry.

    I want to add:

Life is too short to spend our time in worrying too much.

You know what?  Since I am working at present, I always treat my time as my master and am its slave.  For busy people like you and me, we always do things in a hurry so we always run after time.

So treat each day like it's your last day on earth.  :)

  • Thanks Sewar for your concern.

  •      "Ah! Time I thought you were with me! But you deceived me!!". What a touchable words!!!! But my friend, we who deceive our selves, not the time who does, don't we???? For me, really I don't ask my self such questions because, I like to live every moment ......wait.....wait, my friend, I like not only to live every moment in my life, but also to enjoy it. Yes my friend, to enjoy it!!.

The past is over and done and has no power over me. The future is an stranger guest, and I like guests. I always prepare my self to be a good host. Actually, I think like this to keep my mind healthy and happy. I am in peace with where I am in time, and I look forward to all my precious days.

Finally my friend, I wish you that one day you learn the art of living your life. God bless you.

  • But I am not even 90 years old Saba!...........LOL
