There is still a paradise in her dream.

There is still a paradise in her dream.

She is a little five-years-girl and plays with a broken doll that wears a dirty dress, but the little girl doesn't see that at all.

She had been got traumatized when the house hit by a rocket.

The little girl hums a lullaby and lays the doll in a broken box.

She doesn't care for the falling bombs she hears from the distance.
"Sleep well my little girl," she says to the doll. God bless and protect you. Mom and dad will be here again, tomorrow."

She takes a bit from a loaf of bread. She found it outside in the early morning. Still sitting next to the box, she lays her head beside her doll.

Her little body is tired. She falls asleep, immediately.

In the second floor of her home lies a man and a woman, covered by dust and stones.

The little girl is sleeping.

There is still a paradise in her dream.

  • Wonderful poem Ms. Iris emotional with full of hopes

    • Thanks for commenting on my post, Garima.

By the way, it is not a poem.

  • To all those members who had first left a comment on my blog and deleted it later:
Next time, please, don't leave a comment at all. I don't like to appear like a fool when members read my responses to comments who don't exist anymore.
Please, don't waste your and my time! (Thanks, Uncle and Casper!)

  • Dear Paula.

    You are totally right.
If we have never lived at a place where war is, we can only imagine how it is.
And even more, I am sure that our imagination will not be enough to feel the same as the people exposed to the cruelty of war.

Do you know? I have friends in war- and crisis areas, as there are Gaza, Syria, Lybia...just for example.

I'll never forget the loud noises of warplanes while I was talking (on Skype) with a friend from Syria. Those warplanes flew over the house of his family.
Later on that day, he sent me pictures. There was a big hole at the same place people before stood in a queue for bread. Mainly women and children.

A friend of mine lives with his wife and three children in the Gaza strip. His wife got injured on her head by slivers of a rocket. Fortunately, she survived.

Always, the innocent civilists have to pay the bill of war, many even with their lives.
It's hard to bear when friends say: "If you don't hear from me again, I am dead" because you exactly know it might happen.

I am always concerned about my friends.
I am also always amazed by how they deal with the circumstances...they did not lose their dignity...and...they still have hope and dreams.

  • You know Rose in reading the comments......I have to say that as a writer on a difficult subject there will always be some controversy.  It is a normal thing.....especially when someone is living or has lived in a place that is the subject of this blog.  I wrote a poem in regards to such as this.....not exactly but close...….and you know.....I cannot say what anyone living in such conditions feel other than what I can imagine.  I don't personally know the horror.  But what I do know of it as it is told...….these words come to me in regards...…"We Can Only Imagine".....which isn't enough really......for we cannot imagine what we have never been through...….but I have to think it is a credit to those of us that truly try to imagine it.  For although hope is a scarce thing......and dreams are just that...….when I see something such as this blog......trying to touch people.....to get them to open their eyes and use their hearts to try and feel what it must be like in those shoes these people are walking in...….if one person is motivated to look at this world in a different way......well.....all I can say is....."I Can Only Imagine.

  • Thank you for your detailed analysis of my post, Casper.
I did not expect anyone to interpret my thoughts the way you did.
It's true, my post is written purely emotional, but is that so wrong? More emotion and compassion and less psychoanalysis or rational thinking would do us, humans, very well.
There are worse things to do than searching for joys, peace, and love. Unfortunately, the world doesn't seem ready for peace and humanity. We have just a limited time for living. Why waste it with war and arguing?

  • Hi, Aragon.

I do not know what to say.
You could not see me? What does that mean?
Your comment confuses me because I can not guess whether you want to criticize me and my childlike dream of hope in the end or to add a point of view.

Nevertheless, your secret is secure with me. I will not tell anyone...
Thanks for having read and commented on my post.

  • I thought "all those beautiful people rode on those beautiful horses and went"…
It means I couldn't see you Rose
How a lovely story .. sadness and hope… together
Those beautiful people had believed to better World
And believed that the kids will not cry after that World
All of them would love to all beauties and would touch to flowers , trees , even snowdrops . which resist to their head from under the snow .. hopefully .. yeah they thought that, rebelled against evil
And imagined that they can touch the sky and even pass to oceans with their ideas and hopes .. they thought that those huge oceans will be a step for them
And believed that .. they can erase to all horrible feelings and even stopped wars with their those beautiful hopes
How was nice that utopia Rose
How was nice those childish opinions
How was that reality Rose which will never lived by people
    They thought but couldn’t live

Now? there is no even a singer who will tell us those stories...

A note : I will give you a secret Rose.. In fact John Lennon had stolen my soul for all those his beautiful songs and ideas …. I don’t want to declare that reality .. because It can be so sad for his family … but he is a real art thief.. He had been stolen my songs , desires , hopes, opinions … When I awared that reality, searched for open a court against him for my copyright…Learned that he was lived before my birth..Anyway .. so I didnt open that court...I have forgiven him… But don’t say anybody please.. It must be a secret between only you and me ..

  • Dear Rose,

War has always brought pain and sorrow and left millions of lives devasted all over the world. But the bitter fact is wars happen all over the world ....in many cases it is just a representation of one country's power and wealth apparently a display of dirty politics.

Where civilians have to pay the cost in all the countries who involve in wars. :(

  • Dear SNR. This little girl stands as an example for uncountable fates.
I don't know how many children have to go through endless sorrows.
It is a shame! It seems people never will learn from the history of wars. Wars are senseless and bring only much pain. I don't know why hatred, greed, and violence rule the world.

    Thanks for your compassionate words.
