Most of us struggle waking up early, and I'm guilty of it. I can't shake off the sleep and rising early seems impossible to me. I have to drag myself out of bed, rushing to get ready for work, and skip my breakfast because I'm late, as usual. And one of the worst things of being late is battling for rush-hour traffic everyday. So yes, I'm already frazzled rushed every time I start my day off.

I wanted to be an early riser. I want to witness the beauty of nature like seeing the sun rises and how the day gets brighter slowly. I also want to enjoy my breakfast, sipping a cup of coffee while doing my reading at the crack of dawn.

Some says there are lots of benefits you can reap from being a morning person. But sadly, there are none that I know of. Not until I gradually take small steps in changing my usual morning routine. Waking up early has its benefits. However, this might not work for everybody due to conflict of schedule but you know, there's no harm in trying especially if you want a healthier lifestyle.

Why we should make it a habit to get up early? Here's why:

1. A morning person is more productive.

Getting up early in the morning will give you a lot of time to accomplish many things. According to Resumesplanet.com, a professional writing service, most CEO's and top executives start their day off by getting up early.

Before my alarm rings, I've already eaten my breakfast, done with shower, and other chores without experiencing any interruptions. Before I get stuck in traffic, I'm already in my workplace. So imagine if you get out of bed earlier than usual, you will get a lot of work done and always feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.

2. A morning person is happier and nicer.

A study says morning people are more associated with happier and positive emotions. Getting adequate sleep will make you feel better and energized in the following day. If you lack sleep, the more you will feel agitated or grumpy. To avoid such moods, allow yourself to sleep earlier so you can able to wake up early.

3. A morning person is healthier.

This is simply because you don't miss out the most important meal of the day. It will give you enough energy that you need to be productive for the day. When you're up early you can find time to workout, do some exercises, and have quality time with your family.

4. A morning person is more creative.

Early morning is the most creative time for many. There is no signs of distractions because it's the most quiet and peaceful time of the day. I prefer crafting my writing pieces early in the morning when everybody still asleep. I think this is also the reason why many successful writers get up before sunrise.

It is hard to change sleeping patterns so you cannot force yourself to become a morning person instantly. Everyone is wired differently. If you want change, you need to be committed on it. Have that "get to" attitude and be excited as you wake up every morning.

  • i declare myself guilty, but i try to wake me up early, because "the early bird catches the worm"

  • Let me also share my wish to be a morning person.

  • Thought I know a ton of benefit from getting up early, I still can't resist the temptation of staying up late at quiet night. So, just like you, I always have to struggle to wake up every morning. If I wake up early, it must be for turning off the alarm clock and continuing to sleep.
