Teaching Reading

Teaching students how to read in English is one of the great challenges that every English teacher is confronted with . Nevertheless , this doesn't mean it's impossible , it's just difficult due to many factors and reasons . Let me state them as follow :
1/ English language written form or scripts doesn't match it's pronunciation
English language is called " the crazy language " because of this as I know
2/ There are many silence unspoken letters , many vowels that should be uttered in a certain way and culsterd constant letters with a certain way of pronunciation .
How to overcome these difficulties :
1/ teach them how to write or read words of 3 or 4 letters at first .
2/ teach them how to pronounce the sounds of letters .
3/ begin by reading words , then sentences , then paragraphs and finally long articles
4/ try to change any difficult reading texts to suit your students level , go and search the Web for simpler texts that is easy for them to read . They can listen and answer questions about the texts in their books only .
5/ use learning strategies related to reading like " sight the word or bingo "
6/ your student have to listen to more English , it's their key to improve their reading ability .
7/ ignore their mistakes just to keep them going , don't stop them . It might frustrated them if you correct them alot .
8 / don't and never give up at all . Learning languages isn't an easy thing to do in general . You need to be patient and diligent . You won't pick up your fruits in a day or 2 . You need years and a lot of hard work :)
