Stone Hearted

Stone-hearted.

The ringtone pierced her ears and broke her sleep. She got her hand out of the cozy sheets and fetched for her phone. After searching for what seemed like an hour she finally found it and answered the phone without looking at the caller identity.

"Helloooo", she said lazily without opening her eyes, still half asleep.

But a sobbing voice startled her making her fully awoke.  She sat upright immediately,  trying to understand if she was dreaming or was this reality?

He was sobbing, "PLEASE FORGIVE MEEEEEEE, I AM SOOO SORRY, I HURT YOU... I AM SORRYYYY."  He slurred.

He was going on and on about how SORRY he was. How much he missed his sincere "Fiancée".

“I will never ever cheat you again, believe me, it’s my honest pledge!” He was begging, pleading at the same time crying, which she hated to hear, because she knew he was not honest in his words.

She let him talk, she had had enough now of his blabbering about how much he loved her.  She took a deep breath, collected herself and mustered the courage to say what wanted to say.

"I’ve already forgiven you", she uttered almost to herself, interrupting his cries.

"But you cannot have me back. I wish you all the best in life, never play anyone like that again".

“PLEASEE.... NOO, I PROMISE YOU!”

“No, I’ve said what I have to say.” She said firmly and coldly.

"YOU ARE A STONE-HEARTED GIRL" he shouted in between his sobs.

“I was not and am not stone-hearted, but you have made me so, making the chapter of love with dishonesty.  Yes, for this I am STONE-HEARTED so as you have made me.”

She disconnected the phone.  Tears were rolling down her cheeks.

  • Hi  Warda ,

First of all, let me congratulate you on the style of writing...just loved it.

And then, commenting on your post the only thing I can say is that life keeps on going...time will teach how to live with such issues and not feel broken-hearted even if someone calls you a stone-hearted one (which is so evidently not true )).

Cheer up and keep on creating. It is always a pleasure to read good writing )))

    Thanks for sharing.
