When I was a teenage girl. I saw everything through rose-coloured glasses. Life seems to be very easy because I don't take care of the cost of living. The only thing I have to worry about is my homework, test, examination. I am willing to do anything without fear of failure. The more I grow up, the more things I have to worry about. I face the unpleasant side of life. I see everything more realistic. When you see a problem realistically, you will evaluate failure rate and success rate. So you become hesitant, careful before deciding to do anything. You will make less mistakes but you are less courageous too. But if you always live in your rose-coloured world, you feel everything is well, so you don't want to improve it.

  • It's a reflexive topic, it makes somebody to think about i for a moment indeed. Dids you know the expression "rose-coloured glasses" is mainly used in US while "rose-colured spectacles" is most used in UK?

  • Hi Thuy Tran,

Nice topic, in my opinion as we were teenager, our problems were not too complicated, our life circles were about school and love for the most as you mentioned. Passing by the time, we grow up and life is being difficult because it is demanding us more. It makes us  to be old a(for wellsure)  as mature person (choice),kind of natural law.

For me, the point is about learning from life. Life always offers many lessons to us and it is endless to learn for. We are the students of life as long as we want to learn from it in order to be a better person, for yourself not for others.

  • Hi, Thuy Tran,
thanks for opening again an interesting topic. :) I like this question. But to be honest as a teen I couldn't see anything positive in life. I was constantly trying to save "the world", animals, classmates, or people who had lost their way in life. I was so busy with saving everyone that I couldn't find a healthy way to live my own life. Only when I grew older I started to see things not as bad as before... and became more realistic... ;))
I don't know how it is to see things through (unrealistic) rose-colored glasses... I don't think that I ever have done that. But I see life today much more positive!! I can be optimistic about my own life, my possibilities, my goals... that doesn't mean I'm always like that. I have also phases where I feel anxious and despair.

Now coming to your question, I believe that it's better to take purposely different perspectives in life, and to challenge oneself to become a better version of oneself, stop comparing oneself with other people, and to get out of this black and white thinking. ;)

  •   It is good to be realistic  . That's what life taught us as we walk into its road  . Your blog reminds me of an article that I have read . The writer was launching an attack on " self development  speakers  " and discussing  what they are doing  , describing it with " negative  positivity  " a thing that blinds people  from seeing life struggle as they are realistically  . Thanks for sharing  your personal  experience with us :) as girls  we all tend to take things in a pink color

  • This is a life circulation, Your parentls lived same events, your children will live the same circulation, as generally ...one day will come and you will see life as pink !!!...then write your last will ! huh.. much better...
