Once, in the time of evening twilight

It's the time of twilight. Nobody sees the woman behind the window of the house next to the park. She is hiding behind the curtains. She doesn't want anyone to see her.
She likes watching the young lovers, sitting on the benches in the park, holding their hands and kissing each other.
She smiles, but in her eyes gleam tears. She is far away from the reality, lost in dreams. She's back in time when she was also one of those couples.

She is married, but the passion of her marriage has gotten lost in the daily routine of the years. She had always tried to keep the love alive. It was in vain. If one in marriage sees the other's love as self-evident or even no longer perceives it, what else can one do?
She misses being wanted, desired by her husband. She barely remembers the last stroll with him while he was holding her hand. She remembers the good years with sadness and longing.

The woman behind the window awakes from her daydream. She wipes away the tears, goes back to the sitting room where her husband watches TV as always.
"Time for dinner?", she asks him while she kisses him on cheeks.
"Hmmm.. if you want," he says.
She goes to the kitchen and prepares something for dinner.
Both eat in silence.
He doesn't stop watching TV during dinner. He doesn't notice her soul-pain.
She does still love him, that's why she stays. There is still hope, deep inside her, but she isn't sure for how much longer.

  • Hello fatiha.

I am so sorry for you.

I know, it's sad and disappointing to live and love just in our dreams.

  • Sorry,..! but you are speaking about me, it's like if you lived that moment with me, and it's still the same pain, same dream to be lived may be just in our dreams...

    i liked very much

  •  I think, couples should be careful if they want to live/stay for a long time together happily! Silent love and to be  neglectful is totally different!

  • Thanks, Paula, your comment is always welcome and appreciated.

Yes, it's strange but also very sad if people lose appreciation for each other. Sometimes, they only realize what they had if they lose it.

  • beautiful & heart touching,  rose thanks for sharing.
