Need to Learn More Vocabulary?

I believe that every one has his or her own methods or secrets that he or she adopts to learn a foreign language. In this respect, I am going to let you know about one of the methods that at first I ignored that it is going to be of a great help in my learning a large number of vocabulary.As you know, there are so many products that filled the shelves of markets or just the store in our district or neighbourhood. Of course each product has got a special name or title, and sure once you bought one of these products either a packet of biscuits or a bar of chocolate or soap, or a perfume.My question is as follows: Have you ever wondered what is the meaning of the name of the product you bought?That is my method in learning vocabulary. Whenever I have a product in my hands I try to know what does it mean just to know why the producer has chosen that exact title to his product. As a result of which I became aware that most product'names are in English language and bear a meaning. To clarify my idea here you are some examples:Snickers is a famous bar of chocolate. A quick look in a dictionary you will find:Snickers:(v) to snigger, to laugh at someone in a silly and unpleasant manner.Bounty is also a bar of chocolate.Bounty:(n) generousity in giving; a generous gift or a reward or a payment or great kindness...I am sure that you have seen "land rover" or "range rover" marked at the back of a car.Land rover or range rover is a vehicle or simply a car.Land:(n) the surface of earth that is not covered by water.Rover : (v) to rove, to wander without intending to reach a particular distination;to travel, to move in a large area.Range:(n) a connected line or row of mountains.zest is a soap and has got a meaning.Zest: (n) great enjoyment and excitement.: outer skin of some oranges used to flavour some cakes.Extravagance is a perfume, Background as well. So, let's look up their meanings.Extravagance:(n) the act of spending money more than you need.Background: (n) things seen behind a picture or heard behind a voice; it can also refer to experience or situation.Ray-Ban is a famous label of sunglasses, can you find out what do the two words mean?So, once at a supermaket bring a dictionary in order not to miss a vocabulary.

Thx 4 sharing such a useful idea..in deed i do use this way bu unconsciously..from 2day and go on i will never leave a product unless i know the meaning of its word...thx again it is really an effective method..

here is a word that i have learned..

1. the periodic rise and fall of the waters of the ocean and its inlets, produced by the attraction of the moon and sun, and occurring about every 12 hours.
2. the inflow, outflow, or current of water at any given place resulting from the waves of tides.

Hi!!! I read your method and want to tell you that this method can use people who live in country where sell goods with name or description on English. This method useless if person live in Russia or Poland and other country where sell goods without English's description and names.
