My first blog post… Finally !

Hello everyone!

It’s been almost half year that I joined this website, and this is the first time I write a blog.

I came here to learn and improve my english. I wasn’t an active member last months, because of less time. But, in the few times I visited MyEC, I met interesting and friendly members here, english learners and teachers. We had interesting discussions , and audio conversations on Skype.

I’m taking advantage of being in holidays to be more active. Well, I wanted to write a blog from a long time, and today I’m determinated to do it, but without no idea about the topic that I’ll talk about. I’m just writing spontaneously …

Okay, so, I think that I will tell you about my english level, about, if I can say it, my relation with this language.

I think that my english improved sisnce I joind MyEC.  I’m happy and very graceful for people who are helping me.
I started learning english when I was 14 years old and I had official english classes in high school, I had an experience a summer in an American center, with begining levels. After highschool,  I studied business english in a special way : We were doing translations from french to english, and from english to french. It was very enriching.
Now, in my actual studies, I don’t have english classes anymore. But english is still important for me and I want to keep on learning it, especially that I’m a person who loves meeting new people from other countries, and who dream to travel a lot …

I have a souvenir that came in my mind.

In April 2011, I went to James Blunt concert in Casablanca with my friend. We were there 6 hours befor the concert. That’s crazy but we could hear repetitions which made us more excited, and could be in the middle of the first row, just under Blunty's nose!

While waiting, two men came to ask us about some informations.  They came to the concert too, and they were extremly happy to see their compatriote. Befor they told us, I guessed from their french accent that they were British, they were trying hard to speak french. Their french was cute by the way. While my friend was showing to one of them where he can park his car, I was explaining to the second one that we didn't have the same entry, because they were going to be in terraces.

The thing that I regret, is that we exchanged just some english words. I explained and talked with them in french. I couldn’t speak english. And, I have to confess that I wasn't confident.

When I think about it, I say to myself that from now, with my improvements I can make an effort and speak.

When I like an english song, I used to look for translations, and to watch subtitled movies. Now that I learn english, I try to listen, undestund, to write and to talk. Even in my business studies, english is very useful, because in management and marketing,  there is  international english vocabulary.

I think that’s all for my first step in writing a blog. Thank you  for reading it!

Next time, I will write about other topics, I hope I’ll have more inspiration.

Please, any corrections will be welcome. Thanks in advance!

Ilham .

@Richard, hey! I'm happy you read my blog! Haha, with your speaking courses I will  be confident next times, like a peacock =D

  • Apparently we have the same friend, lol. My first name is the opposite with your name. Here, it's for males, but in other country it's for females.

As we have the same purpose, I guess I will keep in touch with you, Ilham. So, see you soon :)

  • Hello Ario !

    Thanks for commenting !

Yes, Ilham is an arabic word and it means "Inpiration", I know that it's a male in other countries, and it doesn't offend me, not at all! I love my name =) My EC friend Nadiyah from Indonisia told me about this! In Morocco we use this name just for girls, there are other names for both genders like "Ihsan" for example.

I want to improve my spoken english too! I will be glad to speak with you, and to know more about your ways for practicing and learning english!

    =)

  • Ilham in my language means inspiration, but mostly it's name for males. :) I hope it doesn't offend you. I have the same motivation for you to improve my speaking skill because I think learning a language, but can't use it to speak with people seems not right.

  • I thank all of you!  I'm so happy you liked it, really!

And a special thanks to members who I didn't know befor, I was surprised when I read your comments, and I'm very pleased to meet you here!

@Sebastien, you are right, we never met befor in MyEC, nice to see you here!  I saw that you posted your first blog too =D  I'm looking forward to read it after finishing my comment! Thanks for nice words and for your honesty. I will tell you something, I was saying the same thing befor. Like everyone here, you can do it too! All we need is to make the first step and to believe in ourselves. And Sebastien, don't hesitate if you need any kind of help! =)

@Viviana, Thanks Viviana, I'm glad you liked it! I have some ideas about my next blogs, and I was thinking about writing a blog about Paco. His name is Paco =) Thank you so much for your proposition that made me smile =). I will do it for sure!
