Jordanian Women Calling for Respect

In Jordanian Culture we have so many bad traditions. One of them is calling women by what they are,  not by who they are. For example:

Tariq: what is your woman’s job?

Daniel: My woman works for the government.

Daniel: my wife is a good woman; she cooks, cleans up the house, takes care of the children and never sleeps before I do.

Tariq: what is your wife’s name?

Daniel: what?  What did u say?!! How dare you. Wait for me; I will kill you!!!!!!

Where is the knowledge…? Where the women’s rights gone? We are human beings, we have names so, let’s be called by them. furthermore,  we as Jordanian women calling for more than respect; for dignity and Humanism.

Another example, some families descriminate based on gender when it comes to drive or ride a care.

The mother: Let’s go out for shopping.

The son, Keith: it sounds great.

The doughter, Liza: wait for me.

when every body is getting in the car, Keith is yalling at Liza; telling her to get out  to set  back  to take the position beside the driver, since he is the man!!!!

Liza: trying to explain, but I am five years older than him. That is not fair.

The mother: Get in the back , end of discussion. don’t you hear your brother; he’s the man not you.

I decided not to comment since my readers’ comments are more important to me. if you were the mother, what would you do?!!
