Is English considered a subject?

I see the problem of many people who hate English or have great difficulties in learning it is that they consider it as a subject. In fact, most of those people think that they have to learn and keep a huge number of vocabulary and grammar to become fluent. As a result, the frustration often prevents them from improving their language and overcoming the obstacles.English needs to be an interesting part of the daily activities. The learner can read about many exciting topics that he might or might not be interested in. Also, he can listen to a variety of useful videos and talks or even watching English movies. In addition, he can find a native English speaker and speak to him as much as possible. Moreover, it is a good idea to write an essays about topics that attract him or write to his friends in English. In such ways, the learner can strengthen the different English skills without dealing with it as a school subject. However, the learner should keep in his mind that the starting of everything is difficult. In other words, he may need at the beginning to learn some grammar to build the basics, but after that he could incorporate this with interesting activities to deepen his knowledge and sprint towards the English language world. In brief, each person has his preferences and ways of learning. The most important thing is that he has to choose effective ways that keep him motivated and help him to reach his goals without any failures.

  • I think that the secret of mastering English is practice. The more you practice it, the more you acquire fluency, security and confidence.

  • I believe that the most difficult thing is finding a native speaker, but it isn't very difficult to find a person whose English level is advanced. In the worst cases, the learner can imagine a person in front of him and speak with him :), it works although it seems a crazy idea!

For listening there are a lot of things that could be useful such as:
    - Ted talks, which contain a verity of talks by different speakers and in many interesting topics. The time of each talk is short but listening to one talk each day is very helpful.
    - BBC news or any English news.
-" Coursera" is a great website which submits courses in many different areas for those who search on the scientific knowledge and improving their English simultaneously.
    -English movies.
In general, each person can find the appropriate things for listening depending on his English level.
  • I agree with you, but I think still is difficult, what is your suggestion ?
