Internet Scams

The internet has become the venue for 'scammers' to execute their evil plans. This usually happens in the on-line dating websites. Bogus pictures of men and women are used to entice their victims. These pictures are often attractive ones taken from different persons on google. They attach their fake names and start chatting to their fortune away. And there are different ways that these people scam.

The most common scam is the love scam as they call. As mentioned earlier, these men and women post beautiful/handsome pictures to get the attention of their victims. They also use effective language of love. They convince their victims to have a virtual relationship with them.

Once their prey has fallen in love, they start to ask money, cell phones and etc. The innocent victims, most of the time give in, of course in the name of love. But as soon as these culprits have amassed money, especially, they go missing, in short unreachable any more.

Another form is the business partnership scam. They post to have a thriving business of all sorts. The scammers even create a website of their bogus business to appear authentic. They persuade their 'prospects' into investing a considerable amount of money with a nicely written sheet of revenues, earnings, profits. Once victims are lured into depositing money, and the transaction is successful, again, they go missing.

Education has also become part of scams these days. This approach pretends to offer scholarship to students abroad. The scammers once again pretend to be associated with big colleges and universities in different countries. They also have their website for this. They penetrate the internet by assuring the 'candidates' that the scholarship is possible. But on certain conditions like depositing money to an account for the speedy process of the papers and a guaranteed scholarship grant.

These scams have been going on, yet nothing much is done about them.

But I guess we could only be vigilant as individuals to stop scams on our special way.

I agree with the computer attacks. They have happened to millions of people worldwide.

So it is still cool to be always alert.

  • face or connect with someone whom we do not very trust or a stranger, we should be doing following as advisor mentioned:

1, just talking with them for normally businesses, keep warning if talking about borrow money, have a meet, or other private information (like cell phone nambers, living address, working place...)

2, call the police immediately if you have recoginized you got the lost.

3, be careful the high-tech. scammer do the attack and invade your computer and get your information then using it to the illlegal things.

My friend was a victim of love scam. She gave money to her fake lover. Another person I know also gave money to supposed business partner. They all ran away!

  • Good information, but my question is, How did you know this kind of scams, have youbeen victimized of any of this scams on your blogs?

  • the only way to get rid of these scams is not to trust anyone online, be more attentive and smart enough to know when someone is really a friend or just want to use you in any way. if they're your real friend/bf/gf then why should they ask you for money or any material things in the first place? nice blog michelle :)
