His son became a song

If you are in deep sorrow and can't get over it, what should you do? You may wait for it to go away on its own, but you can't know how long it goes on. However, something may heal you from it.

Eric Clapton is a great musician and he was in deep sorrow in 1991. He lost his four-year-old son in March of 1991. His son fell to his death from the fifty-third floor of an upscale apartment in New York. We can't know how sad he was, and if he can ever recover. However, he must have recognized that he had to get over it and move on. A few months after his son's death, he wrote a song. It must have been given to him by his son, and it healed not only him but also the people listening who had the same experience as him. His son became the song.

Tears in Heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven
I'll find my way, through night and day
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven

Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knee
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please

Beyond the door
There's peace I'm sure.
And I know there'll be no more...
Tears in heaven

  • Hi Tam, I didn't know this story. This is truly a deep sorrow.

    • Hi, Onee-chan. Thank you for your comment. Yes, I can't imagine how sad he was.

  • I didn't know that Eric Clapton in  1991 lost his son which was only four years old because he fell down the stairs of an expensive apartment in a building of New York that was on the fifty third floor and that caused to the singer a very deep sorrow for it.  However, I know that you have to be very strong and if your pain doesn't go away from you, think always that time changes everything from negative to positive or from positive to negative: it will depend only by your actions and actions speak louder than words.

I had a period of great sorrow when in the month of august of 2016 my boss began to abuse on me using his own abilities and I started to find myself in a great pain. But in the month of april 2019 I was unable to bear his actions and I met his chief in his office: I asked him to move me in another section of the same type of which I was there since 14 years and a half. He answered to me positevely and in the month of september 2019 I changed my boss and also my colleagues of work were moved in another section because we were only three people whit a boss that wouldn't understand how to work with us. So having a work situation that wasn't surely the best for everyone of us my last office was definetly closed.

Now I am very fine: in fact everyone of the colleagues of work and also the chiefs respect me and I respect them: in the latest four months of work activity in another group of work where no one orders me what I have to do for my work or gives orders to anyone else, I found the right place of work and I'm sure to continue with it for years and years.....

Thank you for the youtube link, I surely will listen to it because knowing the full history of this song could also help me in my future life. Nobody knows what the future reserves to us, we know only the present time and the past time but a thing is sure: Today is son of yesterday and tomorrow's father.

Have a nice Sunday, my dear friend Tam. See you soon here in EnglishClub.

    • : )

  •   Parents always feel the hurt if anything harm their kids  . What's happens to them is like a heart  burn   , the pains are unbridled  .

And yes  , standing in the face of loss isn't an easy thing  . This reminds  of the questions of why ? The lamentations  poems  are the best in arabic literature  . The answer  was  : Because  , we say them while our hearts are bleeding   .

           Have a nice day :)
