Hajj (1)

Hajj, idiomatically or linguistically means intention. Religiously, hajj means intending to visit something greatened, honorable or glorified. The terminology in Islam implies going to Mecca in Saudi Arabia to visit (kaaba) the grand mosque. Hajj or pilgrimage is done annually to Mecca. Pilgrims perform hajj to retrace the steps of the prophets and recount their dedication to God. In Quraan, Allah said, ((And announce on people pilgrimage, they will come to you on foot and on every skinny camel, they will come from every deep and distant highway to perform Hajj)), Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam. According to Hadeeth narrated by caliph Omar ibn Alkhatab, may Allah be pleased with him,Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, (Islam was built on five, to testify that there is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger. Do your prayers. Pay Zakah (chastity). Fasting in Ramadan and perform Hajj if You could do it).

At this time of the year, people come from different parts of the world to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this duty. It's an obligation once in a lifetime if they could do it. They wear Ihram once their plane comes over migat. The (ulamaa) scientists advise that it is better to be worn before coming near Migat. The captain of the plane or his cabin attendants usually announce the nearing of Migat, but it is better to wear ihram before that or if the trip takes one or two hours, you can wear Ihram at the beginning of it.

Ihram, migat, what is Ihram and what is migat? Ihram is wearing white clothes. They are usually two garments and without any stitching worn by males. For females, they wear their own clothes. Ihram is the first rite of Hajj.

Migat is the place which was specified by Prophet Mohammed to perform Ihram. Detailing this will be included in part two of hajj.

  • Teskkur ederim Omar! I want to be one of your friends, is that possible? Thanks for your comment on hajj 1.

  • This article answers that questions about hajj. Nice job.

  • Chao Merani, did you notice what Mr. Mishaikh said? By the way, members of the club, Mr. Mishaikh will assist me in answering the different questions concerning hajj , thanks to his efforts.

  • Grzei Merani! Islam is built on five pillars. The first one is to say, there is no any other God but the only God. This is considered the main and basic support then, after that comes the other pillars like praying five times a day, paying Zakah, that is to pay the money or gold , etc whatever you have for one year. The amount is determined according to  certain rules. Ramadan is pillar four and hajj is the last but for who? The one who is able physically and financially. So, if you do not pray or fast in Ramadan, you are still a Muslim as long as you believe in God, but you are considered a disobedient slave. I hope this helps, Merani. Thanks for your question.

  • @merani

Hajj is fardh (essential) but only for those who can afford the expenses, not on the others.

    Hope you understand it now.

  • Nice blog sir!!

  • Ap sono mera dost Mishaikh bola. Mecca is the birthplace of Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him. As the matter of fact, I have been waiting for Mr. Mishaik arrival to help me answering the different questions concerning hajj. Thanks for your time Sach.

  • Tumhara merhbani Mishaikh! Bilkul sahih. The lady who stirred or raised that matter knows exactly that death occurs everywhere. the linking of the cranes incident and the death of many people was not an excuse to say that kaaba was  not a safe place. For many reasons, I did not want to give the matter more than its volume. Put in your mind that extremists did not leave any gap for us. Honestly, you were more courageous than me. Thanks for your convincing reply.
