Grammatically correct

If you say a sentence is grammatically correct, you mean there's no grammar mistake in it, but it may not be natural or impossible for native English speakers to make a sentence like that.

It's not so easy for a learner of English to make a sentence which is natural, even though they have learned English for such a long time/so long and have learned all the grammar rules. But, with more practice, you could possibly make a sentence which is grammatically correct. So you should try to learn some grammar. If you can make a sentence, then you may be able to write a paragraph.

Some people may say, though, that taking so much time to learn grammar is no use or just a waste of time. They argue that a native English child who may not have learned any grammar could make a grammatically correct sentence. They may not have learned grammar, but they live in an English speaking country and they know how to express their thoughts in a natural way. You are not a native English speaker, so it's impossible for you to make a grammatically correct sentence if you haven't learned any grammar. So, do you find grammar important?

If you can't make a sentence which is natural, why not try to make one which is grammatically correct? Keep in mind, only too often, it's the grammar mistakes in your sentence that give you away.

    Thanks for the comment. Yes, you can say that again. You are already so fluent in speaking English, though.

    Yes, to teach is the best way to learn.

  • I think it's nature in all languages of world nations.I think when we are learning a new language,firstly should be learn the principales as a learner and then teach to ourselves as a teacher,I mean ,I read some grammatically points and teach them myself.

  • @Thirawat

    Yes, that's when you have to learn Grammar. So many people will learn grammar just for taking English tests. And, you're not alone - so many people find it hard to learn English. Yes, you can teach yourself English, but it's desirable to have a native English teacher.

    @Dr Kamal

    Yes, I agree with you. I can't imagine making a correct sentence without knowing grammar.

  • Hi,

    Grammar is the foundation onwhich one builds his writing. In fact, "No Grammar no sentences", it seems that without Grammar one will get a broken language. in addition, the meaning of the sentences heavely depends on Grammar. Thus, no grammar means no writing and no meaning. Thanks.

  • yes English grammatically are very important in my country which I don't know why important are but I interviewed as Front office department all hotels need Toeic and Toefl score but I'm sure I can speak well in it by the way they did't want who doesn't have english tests score
    as I'm also not native speaker and I didn't learn from University ( I myself learn english speaking and listening to work in the hotels and spent whole a year for learning ) I'm still leaning it however I have to get native speaker teacher for teaching me to be better due to it's quite hard to learn by myself.

    Thanks for the comment. Yes, it seems we have to learn some English grammar if we really want to improve our English. I know it takes time and effort, but it's worth it.

  • Yes, grammar is really important for writing or speaking in any language.I try a lot to understand English grammar as I am not a native speaker but I always end giving up.But I am sure one day I will understand grammar accurately.

    Expector Smith thanks for drawing our attention towards grammar.

    Thank you so much for the comment. Good question. Sometimes you can make more than one sentence which is grammatically correct in English to express the same thoughts or ideas, but only one or none is natural. It's also true that it's not easy for learners to make a grammatically correct sentence.

    You really have a point there. It may not be the same thing since adults are not babies.

    Thanks again.

    @Ajay

    Nice comment! You're not alone in feeling that, and it's so true especially when you don't need to take any English tests.
