Gandhi

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. This is one of the great lines of MAHATMA GANDHI who believed that how wiser you are is a direct measure of how easily you can forgive others. On the eve of his jayanti (anniversary) I want to pay my little tribute to our bapu (endearment for father) who sacrificed his life for giving us something which wouldn't be possible otherwise. It's the much needed freedom.Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi also known as Mahatma (high souled) was born on 2nd October, 1869 in Porbandar village of Gujrat, India. He inspired people to such an extent that we have an ideology named after him i.e Gandhism although he didnot approve of the notion of it. Satya (truth) and ahimsa (nonviolence) are two of it's major weapons. He stated that the most important battle to fight was overcoming his own demons, fears and insecurities. He always urged people to never use violence as violence is something that symbolises cowardice according to him. Simplicity is another major aspect of Gandhism. As he wrote "simple living and high thinking is the best way of life", he did the same by challenging the entire British empire wearing a dhoti throughout his life. He led some of the crucial Indian Independence movements which include famous 400km Dandi March. He also fought for women rights and against untouchability which were then a major concern. Above all, his objective was to achieve Swaraj or self-rule.Today, he may not be present with us but his ideas are. He was the one who taught me that "Truth is God".Happy Birthday baapu..Jai Hind !P.S: I may or may not be wrong with the information given above .P.S.S: suggest correction if there is any error involved.
