Colors of Freedom

As it was the day before long weekend most of the seats in the office were empty. She was browsing in the internet and her coworkers told her it was raining hard outside. She gave way near the blinds and pulled it up to view the rain. The drops were big and were lashing against the window. She stood there with a heavy heart for a long time. Tears welled up in her eyes... it was raining the day she lost everything in her life. She was an affectionate child to her parents. She loved her daddy more than anyone else in the world. It was her daddy who plays with her when none of her siblings call her to play and it was he who brings chocolate to her without catching anyone. He was the hero or role model in her life. She copied all his ethics and values in her life. For her, her daddy's place is above the idol.

Everything was shattered in a wink of an eye. The news came as a blow to her ears. She became mentally ill when she got to know the accident took three souls away from her - her loving daddy & her siblings. She and her mom were left behind as the victims of cruel fortune.

Years passed by and due to the immense pressure from the family, her Mom got married to a man who is ten years older than her. He treated her like his own daughter till she reached her puberty. After that, her step father looked at her as a "woman" instead of "daughter". It was a jolt to all her ethics, merely in order to save her Mom's married life she hide it from everyone. She was enduring with a volcano in her heart and it erupted when her stepfather deeds crossed all the limits. She hit him hard with an iron rod and left her house on a rainy day without sounding out anything. It has now been five years since that event.

Suddenly she heard somebody calling her name in a loud voice. She turned back to find out and it was her boss calling for tea. Once again, she peeped through the blinds to see the rain. The hard hitting big drops now changed to small beads and the sky is void of all the clouds and she could see a rainbow appeared in the sky. She was smiling now... She felt set free and thanked The Almighty for giving her life a new meaning.

She is now a brave lady who can stand on her own feet, keeping high moral values which she learned from her father and enjoying the colors of freedom.

  • Thank you so much Sir for pointing out my mistakes and for your inspiring words. It will really help me a lot in writing my next blog.
  • Thank you for the nice blog Niki. I agree with Ha Nguyen about the rainy day sentence, to be sure the reader knows you are talking about a rainy day in the past. I also want to help you with the word "welded" in the same sentence. The word you wanted to use comes from well and has a double L in it. Welded has a very different meaning as you will see when you look it up.

I want to congratulate you on the nice blog and the way you have been expanding your vocabulary. This kind of story also makes the reader very interested in what happens to the girl as she continues her life.
