First working day in 2012!

Hello Everyone!

I think, this time is new year holiday in most of countries over the world. But I'm doing work in office now because my country will take 14 days off for Lunar new year (from Jan. 18, 2012 untill Feb. 01, 2012).

Do you know what I am doing at the first day of new year? Besides the daily work, I've to write a self assessment about my job in 2011 as our manager required. In additional, I have to set up short-term and long-term goals on what to achieve in the next twelve months, next two years, even next five years. This is the first time I'm recieved this request, but I have to finish it within one day, it means I have to return back this report to our manager tomorrow morning at latest, but my mind is empty because of thinking too much. What should I do now? you think, is this an easy task?

I need more time to thinking for such a job like this. So I come here to relax for a while and I have to turn back my job now. Hope I can finish it on time :):):)...

Have a great day to all of you!

Cheers,

Teresa

  • Hi Ymn Pearl,

yeah, it's the job that had racked my brain indeed. But thanks God I've finished it in time.

How I did it? First I must looked back on what I did as well as on what I've completed during the year to have a right assessment. After that looking back on the situation of our company int the past to set the feasible goals & have good decisions to reach our goals at the end of year...

Although, you hate such a job like this, but I'm sure you can do it if you get the same request.

  • Hello Thuong,

It's really nice to meet you too! most of private companies will close two weeks for Dragon New Year & we both will got the same. Wow, how lucky you're :), you know, based upon my self-assessment along with the assessment of our manager, our boss will consider the annual bonus for me, hope it's not bad :). About the short-term goals, it will be reviewed & discussed in the meeting on early new year. Hope everything is okay.

    Have a great year!

  • OH! =(

It was so tiring. However, I'm sure you did it well.

I hate these activities because I can't write such things. :DDD

Hope to know how you did it. =))

    Cheers and fighting! ^^

  •

Great writing! I really enjoyed this fantastic blog! I like this part of it:

Your superior wanted you to do the "self assessment" which sounds like something difficult, and you had to finish it in time, but your mind was empty temporarily, so you chose to relax yourself for a while on MyEC with us.

    What a description!

  • My Dear Teacher Melanie,

Great, you're quite right "Lunar New Year" called "Tết Nguyên Đán" in Vietnamese. Yeah, Mr. Google is the best for looking for any things :).

What am I doing for the two weeks? Let me see

I have got five days off before entering the Lunar New Year. I'm going to my home town, where my parents are living right after leaving office at the end of final working day, cleaning my house, outside of house & almost of household appliances, going to market to buy some foods for preparing the new year & cooking some traditional foods.

My sisters/ brothers are living so far from our parent, but most of them are present at our parents' home at the New Year eve & we have the party to see the New Year in, it usually ends at 3:00 - 4:00AM the next day.

I usually go to Church on the first of New Year, then I'm going to visit my grandfather and relatives. After that I'm going to visit my friends, who I can't drop in on them during the year.

Finally, my family is traveling in somewhere to relax & get refresh before going to do work again :):). How about your New Year?

Yes, I'm really stressful when I do my self-assessment, but thanks God it had already been done now. But there was no any plans for the next five years.

    Thanks & best regards,

    Teresa

  • Hi Yasemin,

Thank you for comment on my blog. Yeah maybe & I hope so. Oops, so pity because of doesn't have Lunar new year in your county. Now, come on to living in my country & you'll have got 14 days off for visiting your hometown after a hard working/ studying year :).

    Hi Sweety,

hehehe, for me it's not an easy task, I can do it but not well as much as I expected. I've just done that report. OMG, how do I express all of it by English...hichichic....

The most difficult I got that I have to foresee the difficulties in the next six, twelve months to have good making decisions. Our turnover target for this year has to gain over USD45 million (2011 around USD35 million), so

For first month of this year, my team must be going to close a deal with our value Customer to get a big order more than USD10 million.

Next two months, we've to find more good Buyer as well as materials suppliers & deal with some new forwarder to get the good rate for transportation.

Next six months, have to learn about fluctuations in the export to set our goals for next year...

Balance months of the year, develop samples for next season.

    ...........

I'll tell you more about my target in job soon later, because I've to focus on my urgent work now.

Have a nice day & see you all!
