This story teaches a valuable lesson for us.

A young lady sat on a bus. At the next stop, an old lady got on the same bus and sat next to the young lady. She spoke loudly and looked grumpy. She squeezed the seat with her big sized bags. The person, who sat on the other side of the young lady, got upset and asked, "I can guess that you feel much uncomfortable. But why don’t you say anything to her about your inconvenience".

The young lady responded with a nice smile.

"It is not necessary to be rude or argue over something so insignificant, the journey together is too short. I get off at the next stop".

These words deserve to be written in golden letters.

“*It is not necessary to be rude or argue over something so insignificant. Our journey together is too short*”

If we can understand that our time here is too short. Quarrels, futile arguments, not forgiving others, discontentment and a fault finding attitudes and many of our negative thoughts are wasting our time and energy.

Did someone break your heart? Did someone betray, bully cheat or humiliate you? Whatever troubles anyone makes, we should bethink,

Our journey is too short. Therefore, be calm, be humble and be forgiving.

No one knows, the duration of this journey. No one knows, when the end comes. Do we know, what is the point we will get off from our life journey?

So, Let us cherish family and friends. Let us be respectful, kind and forgiving each other. Let us fill our lives with gratitude and gladness.

Because our journey together is too short!!!!

Mishaikh's Writing challenge: Idioms on Countrieshttps://www.myenglishclub.com/blogs/mishaikh-s-writing-challenge-idioms-on-countries2018-11-03T20:00:00.000Z2018-11-03T20:00:00.000ZSNRhttps://www.myenglishclub.com/members/SNR

John, Markus and Linda planned an excursion to a place located at the outskirts of the city a month ago. Finally, the day came and all of them were excited about it. But out of the blue, they came to know that their driver took French leave. After contemplating a while they came up with a solution that John and Markus would drive the car alternately. This way John could take rest while Markus is driving and vice versa. It went on smoothly until John and Markus indulged themselves in a polemic talk about the political issues and upcoming elections in their country and it seemed to be the Mexican standoff as neither of them agreed with each other’s opinion. Later, they both decided to quit the topic and had a good time travelling together.

They reached the destination after a long journey of 4 hours. Luckily it was Indian Summer and it bought a big smile on the faces of John, Markus and Linda. They preferred to have lunch immediately after reaching because they were starving to death. They grabbed the chairs and placed the order and were waiting for the meal to arrive. All of them were students so mutually they decided to go Dutch.

“The news made me really upset, Professor Brown is resigning soon and going to move to Chicago, ” Linda said to John. Markus interspersed “Linda, Don’t worry, It is just Chinese whisper, there is no truth in it.”

A beautiful lady caught Markus’ attention he felt he had fallen in love at first sight with her. John and Linda backed Markus up to initiate the talk with that lady. Markus was so nervous but finally, he drank some whisky to get the Dutch courage. He got up and approach the lady. John and Linda had their eyes on Markus. They were pretty sure that the duo (Markus and the girl) will get along easily and can talk for England.

Markus didn’t take long and came back, seemed sulking. Linda and John were confused and it was all Greek to them.

Markus came to them and said sadly “Guys it’s not going to work anymore” He made John and Linda curious they ask immediately ” Why? what’s the matter ?”

“She is German, doesn’t understand English……not even a single word” replied Markus and let out a long sigh :(

Meaning of the idioms:

1. I hope you’re pretty well. Have you learned new grammar or memorized new vocabulary today? How great to see there are many games these days. I'm sure it will enrich our vocabulary. :))

To boost our English writing skill, I'd like to invite you to practice writing with grammar “not only…but also...”. I’m sure most of you already know this. It is simple just to say "you're beautiful and smart", but this 'not only...but also' is usually used to emphasize the second statement. So, the task is to write a blog using this grammar. You can write a dialogue, a short story, a letter, or even a poem (I'm not sure if it would be good, but wanna try? :) You can also add some new vocabulary you learned in your blog.

Please write the proper title in your blog. Of course you can add your own title after that. Example: Blog Challenge ~ Not only…but also: Dialogue in the Main Room. In case you don’t want to write this kind of title, please include the link of this blog at the top of your blog.

Most important! Please write the words “not only but also...” in bold in your writing, like in my example dialogue.

Here are the example sentences I provided for you. You can find more information in your grammar book or internet or Teacher Dan’s blog as I haven’t found this in EnglishClub, yet. The point is the words after not only and but also are the same part of speech. As usual, I hope not only learners but also fluent teachers or English Native Speakers will participate. ^_^

-corrected-

Sample Dialogue:

The King and The Minister

The Prime Minister: Your Majesty!
