Everyday Miracles

There are a lot of people who don’t believe in miracles.  The reason is man’s power and knowledge. But miracles surround us every day. We just have to open our eyes and hearts to see them. I find  that simply walking on the earth is a miracle.

But I’d like to remind you about the miracle of flowers. Spring has come to Russia at last and there’s a general feeling of renewal in the air. Nature’s awakening in spring is wonderful (a miracle of miracles)!  And I have a wish to share this energy, this feeling when everything is potential, this spring mood  with all people. This feeling is pure magic!

I think that looking at the  flower in a spring bloom is the best way to do it. Do you remember amazing words of H.C. Andersen “Living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower”.

Just look at this flower sprouting.

It is transcending the stones and shells of pragmatic earth…unfurling…spiralling…turning…facing the sun.

Isn’t it a miracle?

Or just look at the first snowdrops (first spring flowers).  There’s  snow everywhere but still clumps of green snowdrop leaves start to pop up  above the frozen ground.  Then appear flowers of purest white on a slender stem.

The miracle of the first stirring of spring.

And what do you think about the urban flowers? Just look at the flower that can grow through the cracks of the city pavement!  They seem so fragile in the concrete jungles. Isn’t it a miracle?

We can see flowers on the rocks, among the stones…

Wonders will never cease!

“People from a planet without flowers would think we must be mad with joy to have such things around us.”

What is the miracle of miracles for you ?

  • Ha, this is my second blog that you comment....and again I have a pleasant feeling that we have something in common as for our attitude to life. It's so great.....we live far from each other and feel life in the same way....

" The invariable mark of wisdom is to see the miraculous in the common."

    ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~

I completely agree with you, Ha, that having friends from different countries here in EC is a miracle of miracles. I'm very glad that you're back....you're a very positive person!

  • Hello ABRIL!

Thanks for your lovely comment. I’m happy to meet so many people believing in miracles and having a soul and a heart to appreciate “common” things.

The quote by H. C. Andersen is one of my favourites, too. The miracle of flowers…..”Nobody sees a flower really; it’s so small. We haven’t time, and to see takes time – like to have a friend takes time.”                         ~ Georgia O’Keefe ~

  • Robbie, you can’t imagine how I’m glad to receive such a positive, optimistic comment. It means that you felt my positive energy which  I tried to share because of the general feeling of spring renewal. I think all people who commented this blog can enjoy every moment and every thing around them. Moreover, they are capable to appreciate and create positive moments in everyday life. I think a cheerful smile is also a miracle. I completely agree with you that if you smile to someone, you can create smile vibes….and people (practically always) smile back to you. And it’s so wonderful!

  • You're welcome Galina! Being positive is a great attitude. It leads us to many wonderful opportunities. Have you experienced, if you smile to someone, you can create good vibes? And people will try to smile back at you.

Anyway, I like positive people. Just like the way you smiled on your profile photo. You look like an angel. Seriously! Because of that, you created positivity. Have a amazing week. : )

  • Hello Hardy!

I think you’re partly right. I mean that in the past people were closer to nature and appreciated it more. Of course, poems of the past are amazing . They’re filled with imagery, emotion, metaphor and hidden meaning. But at the same time they’re written in an eclectic style , filled with old English and esoteric lines, making it difficult to read. That’s why nowadays fewer and fewer people read  them. Modern poetry is written in plain English, filled with imagery and emotion, and is so much easier to read. Poetry isn’t something modern readers want to analyze. It is something readers want to feel and experience.  We can’t do anything with it. Most of people today have busy schedules and don’t have time to read. It’s a pity!!!

But, hey Hardy, don’t be so pessimistic. By the way, whose lines are these:

     Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
    Thus unlamented let me die;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
    Tell where I lye.

Very beautiful……but very sad. Let’s be more optimistic. There are people who appreciate all those things….and there’re poets, though they’re few.

    e. g. Darryn John Murphy (an australian poet, 41 years old)

    Majestic Beauty

    The gift of mother nature
Is in every plant and every tree
    It's in every wild flower
    Growing by the stream

You will find it in the river
You will find it in the stream
You will find it all around you
    It's the gift of life
    you'll see

    The beauty that is nature
Is all around for us to see
You will find it in the forest
You will find it in all cities

    Mother natures majestic beauty
    It's there for you
    It's there for me
It is the gift of life
    on earth you see

I’m very glad to know you, Hardy. Thanks for your opinion.
