Nagar was formerly a princely state and many kings ruled there for 1200 years.hunza itself was under the domination of nagar kingdom.hunza and nagar collectively called buroshall.the capital of buroshall was capal dongs.after the death of king miyor khan his two sons (moghlot and kirkis) used to quarrel with each others and divided buroshall into two independent states nagar and hunza.

Moghlot ruled nagar and kirkis ruled hunza.the river was declared as the border of princely states nagar and hunza.the british fought a war in the nilt(a town of nagar)on 1889 till 1892 to control the administration of nagar,the war is called as jangeer-e-lay.in the war nagar people fought well but was defeated due to their lack of weapons and command.the raja(tham in local language)azur khan was sent to kashmir to his exile.

The british retained nagar until the partition of sub continent in 1947.in princely state those who had approaches to raja family lived relishing life.but a large number of subject were passing thrrough aggression.zulfiqar ali bhutto made pakistan a democratic country so that he dissolved princely states nagar and hunza on 25sep 1974 and released all prisoners made by raja.now nagar has two tehsils nagar1 and

GEOGRAPHY
Nagar borders are linked with gilgit.china is situated in the northeast and afghanistan is in the north west.nagar valley is situated at an elevation of 2438meters.nagar khas(proper nagar)is the main town and biggest town while hakuchar is smallest village.ghulmet,hoper,hisper,minapin and hakuchar are most attractive places of nagar.there people are hospitable to the visitors.
CLIMATE
The Climate Of Nagar Remains Pleasant In Summer.From April Till October Is Most Attractive Season For Visitors.In Summer The Maximum Temperature Is 10 Degree Centigrade(In The Day)And In Winter The Maximum Temperature Is -5.Which Is Seasonable For Wild Life And Human Beings.

There Are Three Languages In Nagar 1.Broshiski 2.Shina 3.Bedichhki(Doma Language).The Biggest Language Of Nagar Is Broshiski And Smallest Is (Doma Language)

The Literacy Rate Of Nagar Is So High Now.Men Are 90% Literate While Women Are 62%.There Are Doctors, Engineers,Artists,Politicians,Businessmen And Farmers.

According to the 2000 figures nagar valley's population was more than 100,000.now birth rate is enough controlled by the government of pakistan.death rate too controlled by using health methods and medicines.

Polo is been a favorite match of nagar.the nagar polo team was champion and unbeatable team of sub continent in history.once nagar team played a polo match in new delhi on the arrival of george(vi)(albert fredrick arthur)and won the trophy.until 1972 it was the unbeatable team of northern areas.now there are a lot of polo grounds in different villages of nagar,but these grounds are used as public meeting places now except the nagar khas one.cricket is also a favourite match of young generation in nagar.
