Confused

My native speaking tongue and best wishes have always been on this site to welcome new members and celebrate the "victories" when someone finally comprehends and gains the ability to communicate in this "CRAZY LANGUAGE" that we all call English.

Lately, the moderation has apparently scared a few people away from EC.

If I were Tara or Joe, my efforts would go out to sanctity of this site and what it stands for. If my English speaking skills were limited (while trying to convey my thoughts), perhaps the choice for another site may be appropriate when ulterior motives prevail amongst curiosity.

Either way, the best members will shine and always make a positive impact upon the learning community here.

Please, allow them to "work their magic" while having a bit of tolerance Tara..English isn't about corruption. It's a form of art that takes a lifetime of thinking and practice to master.;))

  • Good blog post, thanks Eric!! Thanks for sharing your awesomeness with us :D

btw, i hope not to be banned for saying this, but sometimes i really think this site needs moderators for some moderators hehehe

  • I love this line: "Either way, the best members will shine and always make a positive impact upon the learning community here."

Let's all concentrate on that in 2014. Too much time is wasted on troublemakers who are here for the wrong reasons. They disappear for a while, and then come back when they are bored. Report them or ignore them, but don't bother fighting with them or giving them any attention. MyEC is for learning and teaching English. There are plenty of other communities where people can go to cause trouble.

    Cheers,

    Tara

  •  Check and balance is very important / necessary in any kind of field. In English club (main chat room monitoring and private as well) this system is kinda initial stage. Gradually in this proses will  progress. But one thing is system should continue with out any interruption, and rapidly changes ( moderators and other staffs) also not good for this proses.  Few members are unhappy and kinda upset from non-standard monitoring.  Nice topic you began. we must should talk more in this topic in different way of thoughts.

  • Nice topic!!!!!

English is not about grammar it's about communication.we don't get too harsh about it. We have to go with it easy way, then automatically it will grab in hand or knock us with a big smile.

  • Hi Eric. Nicely said. Nowadays the room is too quiet. The new comers hesitated to start a conversation, the other members seemed to be getting tired. I know it's not easy sometimes to find the delicate balance of either the member(s) being deliberately rude, or they just simply did not fully grasp certain nuance of English words/expressions. Give them the benefit of doubt, because sooner or later, we will know who's the real troublemakers, and who's genuinely just parroting certain expressions which they heard without fully understand the context.

  • Nice!
