C.Y.A

I remember this article that our professor in creative writing requires us to post in our group page to be read by our classmates and to post a comment for each one. It was a really nice experience that i will not forget. :) CYA

I grew up to a non-speaking English family; my mother is an Ilonggo while my father is an Ilocano. The first word that I learned to read and write was only basic Tagalog words. When I held in my hands the first English story book that I had, I never thought of the language at all even the idea of the story. There is a lot of language that speaks by our mouth in over 196 nations in the world, I never imagined myself speaking other language more than this.
Is this language gives us the way for a better learning? Or takes us away from our native language? Well, many say that we should love our mother tongue than the second language that we acquired from foreign invaders. Time changes as well as our needs to communicate to others. In this modern age, fast growing society requires high quality of learning, experience and communication. We can make it. To learn English language doesn’t demands a high prize or a good university, just love and live with it. However, for those native speakers contradicting this idea, English will be our second language no matter what. The fluency and the grammatical skills does not influence to the real thing that at the very end we are still Filipinos. The reason for us to use this language was to be communicatively functional to our society.
Furthermore, as an English major it makes me of who I am. A student creatively bring outs a new character and expressing her thoughts. It gained the confidence that I have in facing the real life battlefield. Someone says that English was just a subject since daycare, elementary, high school and even in college. I was engaged and married with this language, it’s a lifetime relationship that must be cultivated and developed. When I asked myself of how I started to love this language. I compared it to the one who is in love, you suddenly dreamed of having it and now you’re living with it. I see myself with this language showing the best of me. It’s not that it opens a lot of opportunity in you but the passion that you have to it.
I never imagined myself to be like this but anything can happen and it became a part of my living system that I shall continue to prosper.

I believed to be good in any languages, not only English, a person needs to love the language first and not to view the language as an obligatory obstacle that need to be removed from life's journey.
