Altamattu

There are three types of performing Hajj.

1-      Atamattu

2-     Algiran

3-     Alifrad

Atamattu  is to perform umrah during the months of Hajj. And when Hajj is due, its rituals must be performed.  Almutamtii (the pilgrim who performs atamattu) must sacrifice a sheep. The same rituals are done in both Hajj and umrah, but the main difference is, standing on  mount  Arafa. Standing on Arafa is the main corner of Hajj. ((Hajj is Arafa)) according to hadeeth of the Prophet Mohammed, (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The steps of umrah are as follows: migat, tawaf, saai, hair cutting or shortening.

Migat, the place where the changing of clothes and intending to enter Ihram. Here Almutamatii must say, (labayka Allahum labayk, labayka biumrah), it means, oh Allah! I am answering your call for umrah. almutamatii must continue to say this until he reaches Kaaba for tawaf. Tawaf; circumambulating  Kaaba seven times. Then Saaii. Saaii, going between mount Assafa and Almarwah, seven times, starting from mount Saffa and ending at mount Almarwah. At the seventh time which will be at mount Almarwa, almutamtii cuts or shortens from his hair. And he can take off his Ihram and wait for the eighth of Thulhijjah to perform the rituals of Hajj. Next time, we will talk about the other types of performing Hajj. For more details, see my blog Hajj.

  • Assalamu alaykum!  Kaifa halakum ya saida Noor. Wa ahl misr attiybeen! I'm an expert on Livemocha, to begin with. but that is irrelevant. you have given the word (quantity ) as an example for the Arabic letter. Quantity is pronounced as, kuantity. The pronunciation of the letter (Q) at the beginning of the word, is obvious. It is (k). The judgment is the pronunciation of the Arabic native speaker and not from the non-native one. Would it be reasonable to let the student or rather a non-native speaker to show us how to speak our own language?

  • Shokrun laki ya saidah Noor Ala isharatiki li  harfy al ( q, g ). The letter "g" is closer in its pronunciation to the letter 'ق ' (gaf) of the Arabic language, than the letter "q".  The letter "q" is pronounced as 'k' which equals in Arabic pronunciation,  the letter  (ك) or 'kaf', such as in the words (question, quart ,,,, etc.) I noticed that some Arabic grammarians use it in some names like, (Qatar, Iraq). Let's go to the Arabic words like, (قال، قابل، قرن  ). You cannot write it with the letter 'q', otherwise their meanings will differ, the three Arabic words will become like this, (كال، كابل، كرن ).  I always see the nearest synonymous  pronunciation to the letter and use it. I hope to be one of your friends. Happy Eid to you and your family.
