Where were his roots going to...So, from right side I've researched and called my historian, from left side I've researched and I called my geneticist friends ,and at the end ,they told me that his roots were going to Morroco or probably to Algeria maybe to Tunusia.. Don't get it! Aside from all that really unimportant stuff above... I started to blabber German when I was one year old, and could speak and read properly already at the age of 6. But I didn't have a clue about the history of Germany. Especially not about that historical epoch you've mentioned. And I'm from HANNOVER! ;)
Sure it's interesting and important to learn about the history of other countries, but one should be interested in that in general, not only for the purpose of learning a new language... and why before ... ??? Like 1 month of history lessons, and than one can start learning a new language...?? Doesn't make any sense to me. Well, that's my opinion at least.

I agree with Mary's point below also, although we had some seldom examples from our history to idealize...
The most interesting thing to know about the queen Victoria is that she has become one of the greatest drug dealers in history. She wanted Chinese goods such as silk, porcelain and tea, but she didn't have anything to trade for these goods... but A LOT of opium. So she made half of the Chinese population addicted to that drug, just to get what she wanted. Evil b*tch... Pablo Escobar was a loser compared to that woman.
Btw, I hate when books of 'history', movies or series idealize the life of the reigns. The kings and queens of the whole world have been, for the most part, selfish and evil people (also corrupted in many cases) who didn't give a sh*t anything but their own personal interests. Just like nowadays politicians.
