I found out accidently cats do not like orange peel.  My cats are always convinced that whatever I am eating is ten times better than what ever is in their bowl.  I could buy them expensive dry kitty food or the moist canned food but they will express persistant interest in what I am eating; oranges, bananas, a bowl of chili, crackers,  etc.

I showed Bubba the orange peel. His reaction was of disgust and revulsion. Citrus peel caused a real repulsed look, much blinking of eyes, and grimacing. Then, Bubba looked at me as if to say, "How can you eat something like that?" or "I trusted you what the heck!" or "I always knew you didn't play with a full deck".

(Polite way of saying "YOU ARE CRAZY!!")

If I lay a banana peel cross his back he will walk around like his back is broken or like he is trying to walk under it or fall over on his side like he has been crippled by its weight. But the banana peel follows him around. I will probably go to that hot bad place (hell) for tormenting my poor kitties.

I used to have a all black cat who would wake up from a sound sleep if she heard the can opener and coming running in the kitchen. Imagine the disappointment when she found out it was green beans? Again, "How can you eat something like that?" was the look she gave me. Mama Kitty could really telegraph her thoughts to me. She was really digusted. Mama Kitty tried to use mind control but didn't have it quite perfected.

(You will open me a can of tuna fish.)

MaMa Kitty lived to be 17 years old and was a great companion . I miss her still.

Oh wow, another interesting blog!!!!

Your kitties seem much greedy, hahaha. And of course it is a best trick ever to deceive them with an orange peel. Whatever you eat, put an orange peel in the side of plate or bowl and give to kitties when they asked for share in your food. What a ground breaking research you've done.

I just want to see their expressions when they are disappointed with the food you're eating. Of course, I also want to see the Bubba walking with a banana peel on his back.

Thanks a million for sharing, Caroline. BTW, why don't you try writing some funny books and I guess they would be a hit. I really enjoy reading your new blogs. Your earlier blogs were pretty serious ones.

And thank you so much again for writing this.
