I know one thing for sure, pasive voice is mostly used in British Engilsh, while it is the agreeable in US English. Whenever a sentence appears in my WORD OFFICE, it comes with RED MARK.
I took me back to my schooling years, about five centuries ago. We were always done this kind of exercise, but for the life of me, I can never understand the whole reason. But, I guess it's stuck somewhere in my brain, and most of the time, when I am writing, I will use passive voice.
